Hi-
this should be easy but I can't find a way in PS or Fireworks. Any help greatly appreciated.

I've got a 3 letter logo - and I want to make them embossed and on an angle. Perhaps 3D is the right way to say it.

Here is what it should look like:
(just a scan)

Thanks!

your URL didn't work, but i guess what you want is available in photoshop.
If you right click when you have written the text (in the layers window) - right click at the far right edge.
then select 'effects', and there are loads of things you can do to the text, including emboss.
hope this helps...

Thanks.. for some reason the url doesn't work when you click it but if you retype it in the browser it does work. I don't understand that.

The text styles in PS don't seem to do this... unless I'm not choosing the right effects. Let me know if you can help.
Thanks,
Val

TRY RETYPING THAT URL

Umm I think you can do that if you mess around with the 'Drop shadow' function.
If you change the angle and depth, as well as the intensity you co do that.
I dont have it on here right now so i can't try it out, but you *should* be able to do that without any problems.

Thanks for the reply. I really thought I could do this with those text layer effects but it just isn't happening. I now think I need a 3D program (Bryce? Ulead?) Maybe that will be easier.

Any suggestions please do let me know... and if you didn't already see the logo example try retying the exact same address in the address bar. Something must get currupted in the link from this discussion list.

Make a copy of the test layer and drag it below the original. Change the color to whatever you like. Now move the new one up 1 pixel and left 1 pixel. Now make a copy of the new layer and move it up and left 1 pixel each again. Repeat until happy with the result. Hope this helps. Cheers~Frank

More than likely that effect was created in a vector program such as Illustrator or CorelDRAW! You can do it in PS with a little creativity, italicise, add shadow, render the font then play with Edit>Transform>Skew... but your best bet is to do it in a vector program. When in doubt, deny all terms and defnitions.

The link didn't work cause there was a space then a ; at the end. Anyway, a simple way would be to cut out the 3d letters from your scan the you can make it sharper etc. I think I know how you could do it by duplicating the letters but I don't know if I can explain. I'll do one up quick in PS if I can and put a link up in a bit. funkymonk B-)

Ok here you go. First look at the .gif to see if it's what you want then there's a .psd zipped for you to see how it was done.

You basicaly skew the letters before you duplicate the layers. As you duplicate the layers use the arrow keys to nudge it to the postsition you want. I used the original text (blue) then changed the first duplicate to a grey. I used 3 duplicates but you can use as many as you want, depending on how deep you want it.

Hope it helps. funkymonk B-)
