In programming the embedded voicemail on a small office, I haven't found a good way to do a transfer to any extention from the auto attendant. Right now, I have the action code for # be Normal Transfer with telephone field blank. This allows outside callers to press # key and the 4-digit extension number and it'll transfer them. But of course, they'd like it to be just the 4-digit extension number and forgo the # key.

I know with VMPro this is a breeze, but I'm stuck with the embedded VM so has anybody successfully set this up?

Avaya did tell me they were going to "improve" the features of embedded voicemail in 3.2

What that means, I don't know.. They didn't elaborate

well of course it stinks, and yes I'd like to steer clear of it too, but I can't, I have five customers that have it, they aren't magically going to spend big bucks on VmPro for a couple of features they are missing. One is the forwarding of voicemails, the other is dialing the 4 digit extention right from the main auto attendant without haveing to hit some key first. Other features it doesn't have are group dist lists, and any voicemail to email stuff. Or at least it isn't documented anywhere. I wonder about 3.2, hopefully they add some of this stuff.

I think you can have a direct transfer to a user on the AA.

If you extensions started with 2XX, under 2 in the AA use a normal transfer action but leave it blank in the destination feilds.

I haven't seen any changes to the Voice mail card in version 3.2.

[cheers]

well that doesn't work, and that's what I'm talking about. My extensions are 3xxx, and I have setup 3 to be normal transfer with the destination field blank. Problem is, hiting 3213 in AA for example, the IP Office only see's the 213, and not the orignal 3213.

create short codes that convert the numbers to the extensions that you want

For example

SC: 13
Tel:313
Feature: DialExtn

Might work

tried that too, that doesn't work either. You would think it is should, but it seems the voicemail ignores shortcodes unless it's one that redirects it to another AA.
