I'm 99% sure, but if I recall there is no way to allow a user on am embedded voicemail (Essentials R9.1) to collect voicemail from outside? I.e calling into the very basic AA to collect VM? I can't think of a way that would work, transferring to a user that forwards to a short code doesn't seem to work.

I believe you can set a selector code to transfer to *17. The user will need to have a password set up on their mailbox.

I tried *17 and that doesn't work. Invalid option is the response. It works when you try internally, but externally nothing.

If you are answering with an auto attendant, make Selector Code do a Transfer to *17.
If a mailbox is answering, *7 during the greeting will get you a login prompt.
You can make one of the mailbox breakouts transfer to *17

This is all with Intuity mode, don't know if it is the same for IP Office mode

And research on not inadvertently turning on breakout to trunk from the VMB or toll fraud may be next.

Some men learn by listening, some by observing, some by talking, some others need to pee on the electric fence.

You can create an ICR pointing to the target "Voicemail

Indeed, couldn't be easier. Make sure they have a VM code, point an ICR to the pre-defined destination "Voicemail" ....that's it :)

Or create a new shortcode:

*99 (or whatever)
"?"
Voicemail Collect

Now, program a selector code off the attendant to go to *99.

Also works: Go to the system voicemail tab and change *3 to go to *99. Now, instead of off the auto-attendant you need to get to a user mailbox and press *3.
