Just did an 8.1.64 install with essential editon with embedded voicemail. For some reason this simple install is being a PITA. It is set up when you call in it hits the main hunt group and after 20 secs the main mailbox should answer. After 20 secs, you just hear dead air but a recording is made. No greeting played, no beep, nothing but dead air.
I formatted and recreated the SD card, recorded the greeting again and powercycled the system after reinstalling the SD card. The phones downloaded new firmware so I took the opportunity to call in while none of the phones would ring. The voicemail picked up and played the prompt. I figured that it was working now.
After the phones came back up on new firmware, I called in and again, dead air when voicemail picks up.
You can see it connected to the mailbox in system status.

Did you try adjusting the Gains on the Lines? I had this someplace else and adjusted the Gains and everything started working.

yeah adjusted the gains and its still the same.

Finally figured out the problem. The telco provider was also on a 20 second timer to route the call to their voicemail. Even though we had them turn off the service, it seems as if their coverpath was still there. So at 20 secs, embedded would answer but the call was routed by the telco to limbo, but it didn't send a disconnect signal to the IPO, which is why it was recording the disconnect tone and not dropping the line.
I changed the voicemail timer to 15 seconds and the prompt is now heard. Damn telcos.

WOW that sux! I had the same situation once where it kept saying "the mailbox you have reached is invalid" or something like that. What made it even worse was that it was the same Avaya Lady's voice so I proceeded to pull more of my hair out. Finally I pulled the line off of the IPO and called it with my cell. The stupid people deleted the mailbox but didn't cancel the call fwd no answer. Oh and it was on a Friday also...
