Good morning. New to this forum. Not new to the forum world, I did do a search.

I have an IPOffice 4.2(11) with embedded voicemail. It is lees than 2 months old.

I have one user out of 15 that is having this issue.

New Messages will not play. We press the VM, it prompts for passcode. VM tells us there are 5 new messages, then there is a beep, then dead air. The messages should start playing, but they don't. There is just dead air. The message light stays lit, and next time we go in into vm, it is the same thing.

I know I can wipe out the user, spell the name differently and create a new voicemail box and abandon this one, but I would rather fix the problem, rather than use a work around, if that is possible.

I already, wiped out the user and installed the same way.
I also already rebooted the whole system.

There was a vm storage alert over the weekend, that I cleared.

Any thoughts are greatly appreciated.

John

not so much a fix, but if you need to get the messages off you could try using visual voice, see if that works.

I'm not familiar with visual voice..

I'll take a look

what handsets do they have?

If they are DS or IP (not5602/5402) you can create a button.

User>button programming>find a spare button>edit> click the ...button next to Action>Emulation>Visual Voice

then label it and merge the config.

press the button, and rather than hearing the prompts they are displayed on screen.

Might work, probably wont. lol.

Yep I've seen that one - certainly on 4.2.17 and .14

To be honest, I didn't do a huge amount of troubleshooting - and just changed the mailbox name...

I have always wished that my computer would be as easy to use as my telephone.
My wish has come true. I no longer know how to use my telephone.

That's pretty slick. I just put it on my test phone.
Let me try it on the users phone.

Thank you Tom Mills....The visual voice button solved my issue that I figured out wasn't an issue.

The simplest things can make you look so stupid.

The first message was about 2 minutes of dead air. I thought the messages weren't playing because I never went past that first message.

By putting the visual voice button on I was able to move around within the messages and get past the first one...

I was going to post that. we had one with the same thing the other day.

At your current rate that's about two years, hopefully your knowledge of release 6 will help you out :)
