Embedded VM leaving auto attendant as message

I have a customer using 4.2.4, IP500 with embedded VM. They called in stating that sometimes when they check their voicemail, it isn't a message that is left, but instead it is the auto attendant.

Has anyone ever heard of this happening?

How do you listen out the voicemail?

*17 ?
visual voicemail ?
button ?
Phone Manager ?

They are just using the Messages Button from the phone. She said whenever she goes in to check a message, she will get a normal message, then the next message will be the auto attendant, and it has also been someone else's greeting.
