Embedded objects and eportfolio

I have a simple report which contains an icon to a PDF and an Excel spreadsheet. When I open the report in Crystal Reports and click the icons, the appropriate program starts and loads the file.

When I publish the report and then view it in eportfolio, the icons appear as expected but double clicking them does nothing.

Can eportfolio be used as a central platform for live databse reporting and distribution of spreadsheets and PDFs in this way?

Is the best solution to install CR on the CE server and remote terminal into it?

I've tried duplicating the directories (ie file in C:\reports on my machine and c:\reports on Enterprise machine) and that doesn't work.

Is there a log anywhere that gives an error (file not found)?
