Customer want to use embedded voicemail for a basic auto attendant, "Welcome if you know extension number dial it now or press 1 for sales or 2 for accounts" the issue i have is that the internal extensions start with 2xx and will clash with option 2 for accounts. Is there a way around this?

Thanks

Don't use option 2 as a option to chose from or renumber the stations to 8xx

As intrigant suggested the best way is to not use clashing extension numbers. If you can't change them and its a small system then you can setup some phantom sub menus, but that requires you to go through and program each extension in a submenu. Not so bad for a handful of phones, but it gets unmanageable quickly.

Just have customer start with "for sales press 3, for accounts press 4". FYI - you should ALWAYS give the digit AFTER the name/dept. There are ways to use 2 as a single-digit code AND for extensions, but it's painful and SO not worth it.

Start at 9 and work backwards, in case they need to add some 300 or 400 extensions at some point

I use:

If you know the extension number of the person you wish to speak to press *
otherwise
press 1 for sales
press 2 for accounts
.
.
etc

* then goes to another AA and prompts them to enter the extension number, this way it gives you access to all prefixes.
