Is there anyway to add sound to an email that is played when the email is opened?

Create your e-mail message....on the TOOLBAR click FORMAT...then BACKGROUND/SOUND.........browse to the sound you want and choose play once or continuous.

It's not express...it's outlook 2002.
is the option not avail in 2002?

same issue for me. sorry, didn't mention I was using Outlook 2002.

Well it seems that in OUTLOOK that feature is NOT possible maybe something to do with the possibility that a sound file can carry a virus??.......and OUTLOOK being more of a professional e-mail client it was not included.

Not the answer you needed I know but might be just as easy to install Outlook Express when want to send e-mails with sound background......leaving OUTLOOK as your default mail program of course......I have both installed and this arrangement works fine.

well now the question is will the sound sent in express play in outlook ?

can you give it a test?

OK added background sound in Outlook express.....sent it to myself...closed OE before could come back to OE.

Opened Outlook, test message came in and sound played...need to make sure that HTML text selected and not Plain though?

Hope this helps

Thanks for that coakerb. At least I know it can be done now. Will do it as you have suggested.

You`re welcome and definately works sent to a remote PC to make sure....Using method as posted.

Another way is to create a htm file that plays the sound file. Then insert the file as 'Insert to Text'. You outlook messages must be set to HTML. I use Outlook 2000 and use this method and it works great.
