Hello everyone
A strange thing is happening and I can't seem to trace it

Sometimes my exchange server delivers a email twice.
It doesn't happen all the time and it only happens to individuals who are farthest away from the server.

I check it with a packet sniffer and no collisions are happing.

any ideals anyone

thanks

Hi rphips,

We are experiencing the same thing. For us, it occurs between 2 Exchange 2000 servers in the same Admin and routing group, as well as being physically, and in AD, located in 2 different sites. The duplicate emails appear to be sent milliseconds apart from each other. The pipe between the both sites is approximately 768Kbps.

Any ideas would be appreciated!

Thanks!

I seem to be getting the same kind of probme but only when I have to reboot the Exchange 2000 server.

Thanks xmsre

But heres another chink in the armor - I dont have proxy or firewall.

Any othe suggestions - It still happens.

Kaylx,

With 2 exchange servers that are connected via a 768 kbs circuit, I'd suspect that the servers are not ACK'ing a good message delivery.

rphips,

If you look at the Internet Headers on the duplicate messages (under View > Options in OL2000) do you see the same or different message ids?

I also do not have a proxy server, and I checked the header on the emails that were dups. They have the same header on them. It's kind of like the exchange server didn't know that they were sent and then just sent them again. Need any additional information on setup. Please let me know. I'm wondering around in the dark on this one.

thanks to everyone that has been replying

Thanks Jbud

I check it and its the same just like PCCowboys

Oh well it seems to have stopped this past week.
and I didn't do a thing!!

Hopefully something corrected itself - but what

Any thanks and good luck in what ever you do.

Pix firewall with mailguard enabled would do something similar. As I recall, the solution was to turn off mailguard.

I seem to be experiencing this problem, but ONLY for the one user I have who uses Outlook 2003. The rest of the office is on Outllok 2000. He also connects mostly remotely as was mentioned in the earlier parts of this thread. Many (but not all) of his mails are received by all others in the office twice (as duplicates with seemingly identical headers, other than 4 second time difference, the msg ID is even the same). He (the Outlook 2003 user) has received some duplicate msg's as well.

The one link, is that this problem only occurs with him and with no other users.... PLEASE HELP!!!
Thx,

Orens, did you find a solution to this? I have a full Office 2003 network... only a hand full of users are receiving duplicate... I can not see any pattern, it seems completely random.

Any advise?
