I am using Lotus Notes 6.5.1
I would like to highlight some of my emails so I can return to them later. Currently I only have the option of
read or unread, black or red characters. Is there a way
to highlight or change the color of the test beyond the
red or black, read or unread? I have asked some of my friends that work in the Rochester MN facility and they would also like to know the answer.

With 6.5.x using the R6(.5?).x templates you should have the option for follow-ups available.

You may need to have your mail file's design updated.

In your user preferences, you also have the option of changing background color following which of three groups are sending you mail.
Check out the Tools/Preferences option from your Inbox, and select Colors. You can play around with that for some added functionality.

I have a user who set colors (accidently)to show her name in blue. I restored her default mail colors (from tools/prefrences/colors); now when she receives new mail, it is not in red like before - only has a star. I replaced her design, but that did not do it either...any suggestions?

2 places to check first, one could exclude the other:

First, check the DATABASE properties: In the rightmost tab (looks like a hat with a propella on top) check the setting 'Dont maintain unread marks'. It should not be ticked...

Second (if the above is not set), open the $Inbox folder and look at View/Folder preferences, look at the third tab under the section 'Rows' and check what color is used there. Change it if needed.

Refresh of the design could have been disabled for the $Inbox, check the preferences in Folders. Normally that is not needed unless there has been some local modifications performed...
