Email Thread vertical-line(s) in OE

...a friend of mine's mother....

In Outlook Express - how do you stop OE from showing vertical lines on the left side of the email? There is one verticale for each time the email thread is continued. (Instead of the greater-than sign, most of us see indicating an email thread).

I've played with the pc having the problem a few months ago and couldnt find the option/switch to turn it off. Last night I was reminded of the problem. Can someone help please? She is a very nice lady and this is driving her crazy!

There's nothing you can do about messages that you receive like this, other than manually edit each line. To prevent adding to these if you forward it again, look at Tools, Options, Send tab, Mail sending format - both HTML and Plain text buttons.

However I'm quite sure there is a way to make OE stop doing this - I just don't know how. This is occuring on every email that has a thread.

Any other thoughts? I'd really appreciate any help!

TOOLS - OPTIONS - SEND - HTML Settings.

Uncheck "Indent messages on reply"

You can stop adding the lines when you reply but if others have this turned on and keep replying to the same thread it will just keep adding the lines to the message. You can't do anything about the way others reply.
