I am running Norton AntiVirus 2000 on Windows ME and if I have email protection enabled, certain emails hang Outlook Express in the "receiving mail" mode until that session times-out. I selected "ask what to do" option but never get asked. Also the emails that cause the problem do not have attachments which the software is supposed to be checking. If I don't recognize the problem when it occurs, each time mail checks to see if any are available it returns duplicate mail up to the point of failure. The only think that seems to be unique about the email that seems to cause the problem is that they contain " [MID-21DA1409] " for some reason in the Subject line. Other than that they are legitimate emails. If I temporarily disable email protection all email for that session is received without a problem. Any Ideas?

I would suggest updating your virus scanner to a newer version.

I am getting a sense that there are better (in many senses) protection programs out there than NAV. If you are going to update anyway (which will require purchase), you may want to rethink your strategy.
