From the MMS Internet messaging message delivery test, I can run a successful send mail test from the MSS to a valid email address on the domain that arrives in my Microsoft Exchange mailbox, but for message notification when a mailbox has automatic notification turned on in thier subscriber options assistant tab, they never receive a notification to email letting thme now they have a message in thier mailbox. Need assistance fixing.

If you want email to go outside the domain to the internet you will need to add a mail gateway. And the SMTP server must be setup to allow relaying from the MSS box.

This may or may not cause other problems if you are also sending email internal to the customer domain as the SMTP server and the firewall will need to know who is where and that it is allowed to send it.

Are you using an MNS system or networked with any other system on the customer site?

Keep in mind too that the automatic notification in MM only works for a call answer message. If the message was sent via email, or even voicemail, it will not trigger a notification. This is an issue that will hopefully be addressed soon.

A call answer message would be one that is created when someone calls a number and it rolls into voicemail and a message is left. That will trigger an automatic notification via email. If instead someone logs into their mailbox, creates a message and sends to another mailbox, that will not trigger a notification. Same thing goes for an email message to the mailbox, no notification will be sent.

well thats how its working, but still no notification. if we send from the utility in the MSS, message goes through with no problem

testing one more time.... awaiting verfication in touch in a few...

I would use the Operational History viewer and the Internet Messaging logs to make sure that the MSS is actually trying to send out the email notification (see twix79's response). The Internet Messaging logs will also give you some good information as well as an indication if there are any errors.

If the MSS "thinks" it is sending out the notification, then it is time to start looking towards the network side.

test is ok from the Internet messaging test menu on the MMS from an MM user ext to a user email address on the exchange server.
But not ok when you leave a message in a MM mailbox that has notification turned on.

Do you have the email address setup in the Subscriber Options for that mailbox?

To answer Kean means question, the notification is being sent to a users email address being served by our exchange server in the same domain
