email mailto onclick redirects to thank you page

I have a link. It opens a new window with an HTML mailto: form. I have more than one of these.
I would like all of them to 'onclick' email me and load a thank you page. The only script I could find was even close
was this one at JS-Examples -

The URL is in the form. Can I do this with an 'input
hidden' ?? Or something

If you want that kind of functionality you really should use Server Side Mail components such as CDONTS or FormMail for example.
