email graphics being sent as attachments

There has got to be a simple explanation. When we try sending an email with graphics, the graphics get received as an attachment in the email. I have tried changing our email user preferences "internet mail format" to html from html and plain text but this doesn't seem to do anything. Any help would be appreciated.

What version of notes are you running?

Domino 5.2

Go to your Notes 5 Admin client
go to the configuration tab
open the server twistie
click on the configuration button
click edit configuration
go to the notes.ini settings tab
choose to set/modify parameters
type in for item: MAILDELIVERCDorMIME
value: 1
should give you a line that says MAILDELIVERCDorMIME=1
Click OK - stop and restart domino

Thanks for the response, and sorry to take so long to get back to you. I followed your instructions but when I got to select an item, the MAILDELIVERCDorMIME=1 does not exist in my list. I only "mail" related items I have are the following:
mail_log to miscellaneous events
mailclusterfailover
maildisablepriority
maillowprioritytime
mailmaxthreads
mailtimeout

Do not try to find it in the drop down box. You have to type it in manually.
In the item box, type: MAILDELIVERCDorMIME
In the value box, type 1
