Greetings.

I'm just trying to get my feet wet in FoxPro, but I need to know if it's possible for an email to be automatically generated and mailed upon a certain event in my FoxPro database.

Don't hesitate to tell me to RTFM, or to point me to appropriate references and tutorials.

This is my first post to tek-tips ... I want to thank you in advance for the help.

It depends on what type of events you are looking at, but you can generate email to any MAPI complient email program that can be automated. There are also OCX components that can be used to generate and send email.
Check UniversalThread.com or vfug.org. I'm not sure but I think this has been mentioned on this site also. Use the Search bar at the top of the form.

The answer is Yes ... it is possible. But, if "getting your feet wet" means what I think it means you may have a few other topics that need digesting prior to sending email. Don

Have a look into
How can I send an Email using OUTLOOK from VFP?
faq184-766

But this only gives you the idea as to how to send email. what you further need is, in addition, a timer event or the event you are thinking generating the email and sending it.
Hope this helps :)

How can I make MAPI Session Control do the sign-on to the mail application thru hard-coded ID and password. I want it all to be transparent to the user running the program. IOW, I don't want extra work for the user to launch Outlook and login.

The user is using a generic network login ID. I can use its mail account ID and its password to Outlook to automatically login.

Thanks in advance.
