I have ALPHA running OpenVMS 7.2 (Multinet 4.2) and want to send email out thru my email server which is an NT 4.0 exchange 5.0 - I know this can happen, and have configured my ALPHA - however, I do not know how to setup exchange to accept and processess smtp request from ALPHA. Anyone have any experience with this?

Thanks -- JJ

Not using Multinet, we still on UCX 4.2 but for ours I set the VMS users to forward all mail to the smtp version held on NT
smtp%user.name@domain.co.uk

You can also use that syntax on the To line within mail or from the DCL prompt.

Thats if I am reading your question correctly :)

HI.

At the Exchange side, you might need to enable relay for the source ip of the Alpha server.
This is required if the email address recipient is not an internal Exchange recipient.

Double click the IMC connector in Exchange Administrator.

Beware not to allow relay for all the world, as spammers find this later and fill up all your Internet bandwidth!

Bye
