Hey all, anyone know how to do this in Crystal XI?

I'm trying to set up an Alert that will send e-mails automatically to e-mail addresses from a database field. (Instead of adding e-mail addresses statically within BOE Central Mgmt Console > Schedule > Alert Notification).

Logic: Managers are receiving requests/tickets to review. The report will run automatically each morning. For any records where the RequestDateTime is 2 days prior to CurrentDateTime, the report will need to create an alert and automatically e-mail to the e-mail address (contained in that record). There will be a constantly changing group of managers, therefore, this must be dynamic.

Ticket# RequestDatetime Manager Email Employee

3 1/6/2010 12:00:00 AM Joe Black Joe.Black@memorialhealthsystem.com C
4 1/6/2010 12:00:00 AM Jill White Jill.White@memorialhealthsystem.com D
5 1/7/2010 12:00:00 AM John Grey John.Grey@memorialhealthsystem.com E

Thanks!

You can't do that from the report designer but you can do it with a third party tool. If your report can be grouped by recipient then you are describing a classic 'burst' where each group of the report is exported to a separate PDF, and each PDF is Emailed to a different person based on the address in the database.

There are two tools on my LINKS page that can do bursting and one is designed to work with the Windows task scheduler. I would check out Visual Cut by Millet Software.

Thanks for the information, Ken! I'll poke around...

Our Sendmail UFl will do exactly this.

Create a formula that used the new functions to conditionally send emails to addresses. Not an export or alert but a simple formula sending whatever message you want.
