I have just brought an Elsa microlink 56k fun usb modem. I also have an internal modem which i hope this will replace. My problem is as follows. I have a 4 port usb Hub (self powered) which had a Logitech mouse (now connected directly to the pc) Microsoft Gamevoice, Webcam, and Scanner attached. I plugged the modem into the pc direct, after 5 to 10 minutes online the modem would disconnect and the usb ports would all fail. I have tried connecting the modem into the Hub (thinking it may be a power issue) and managed to stay online for nearly an hour before again the modem disconnects and crashes my usb ports. I am running windows ME on an 800Mhz pc with 380Mb of Ram, 20Gb and 40Gb HD. Any help would be gratefully received.

Have you tried getting upgraded drivers for your USB ports & for the Modem. If you can stay online long enough have a search.

managed to solve the problem. this was down to the via chipest on my motherboard being a via kt133 chipset. This apparently has problems not supported by VIA. Solved this by installing a usb2.0 pci card.
