Has anyone gotten the serial ports on these to communicate to epson DB25 printers?

I tried a few months ago, and couldn't get the pinout on the adapter correct but, I think I may have it now. Just looking for assistance. take a look below and let me know if this looks correct

RJ45 serial port Pins

1- blue - ground
2-orange - Recieve Data (RD)
3- black - Clear to Send (CTS)
4-red - Signal Ground
5- green - Transmit Data (TD)
6-yellow -Request To Send (RTS)
7-brown - +5 vdc - dsr
8-white - +5 vdc return

DB25 adapter
2 (RX)- green (TD)
3 (TX) - orange (RD)
7(ground) - red (sgnal ground)
20 (DSR)- brown (+5vdc or via alt doc DSR)

does this look correct?
many thanks!

The problem is pin outs can be system dependent, not just hardware dependent. Find this out through first hand experience because we work with a few systems.

The adapters we use for remote printers will work with one system, but not the other- they need to be pinned out differently.

What system is it? Have you asked the manufacturer?

Yes I have a few documents from the manufactuer.
in my list of pins I have it set us as number, color on the adapter then what the manufacturer says is each pin.

1- blue - ground
2-orange - Recieve Data (RD)
3- black - Clear to Send (CTS)
4-red - Signal Ground
5- green - Transmit Data (TD)
6-yellow -Request To Send (RTS)
7-brown - +5 vdc - dsr
8-white - +5 vdc return

so the DB 25 for an epson should be I have the list as
pin on DB 25 (signal), color in adapter, (signal from Touch screen)
2 (RX)- green (TD)
3 (TX) - orange (RD)
7(ground) - red (sgnal ground)
20 (DSR)- brown (+5vdc or via alt doc DSR)

the via alt doc means it came from a secondary document I found from elo.
The computer is an Elo 15A1 a pretty neat all in one. I have used one before, but ended up having to use a USB to serial adapter, but I suspect with the cash drawers, what is marker as com 1 may have really been com 3.

Aloha, Does that make a difference? though I guess I should have said that to begin with :)

Yes, re-read my previous post. You wouldn't think it would, but it absolutely makes a difference. If you're going 9pin to 25 pin (adapters on both ends) I could help you, but the pin outs from a rj45 to a db25 will be different depends on the unit I believe (in Aloha too).

I think I figured out my problem.
I out smarted myself. I was work in a document and typed out what I needed on the DB25 (with the cross over in it) then when I came back to a week later because the first one didn't work. i forgot That I already did a cross over, so I crossed it over again. (if that make any sense) thus i was sending to send and receiving on receiving. I should just be able to switch the position on green and orange and it should work. next time I am out at the store I put the new on in place (i ended up using the adapter that came with the unit and a db9-db25 null modem cable and it worked fine.

Glad to hear you got it fixed. And thanks for posting back.

Too many people come on here, asking for help, and when they get the problem fixed, never bother to report back. Always nice to know what it was in case someone else faces it later.
