Now the network is Ok and all physical connections are done(transceivers & cables from M1 to hub) but still i am not able to ping 136.52.93.12 . Also i am not able to login to switch using Rlogin.....also with time the number of input errors in the LD137 stat elnk keeps on increasing rapidly.

Also the transceivers are brand new ones so chances of them being faulty is very very less. Also on transceivers the Tx light glows steady green but Rx light continously blinks green.

Please help me regarding what can be the reason or wot went wrong as the link is not coming up .......

hi

i think you ned to do this:

ld 117

chg elnk active HSBCVIZAGPRI

and also update dbs

hope it helps

all configurations looks fine. (and it should work).

how about checking the physical connections? patch cords, etc.? are you using a hub or a switch? did you check the vlan settings on the switch?

Hi,

checked all the physical connectivity(they are OK) &

ld 117

chg elnk active HSBCVIZAGPRI

update dbs

but still no use .......situation is same ..........

Somebody also told me that use ENL ROUTE x in ld117.
i did that but it gives the following error-

LNK278 Enable ROUTE: "0.0.0.0" "136.52.93.254" failed.
OK

i m not able to understand wot is goin wrong ....the gateway(136.52.93.254) is pinging from normal PC on the lan.....

Any clues ??????

look close at your subnet mask, your not on the same network on both ends if i can read.. set the subnet in the switch to a larger network .. 255.255.255.0 as oppossed to 255.255.255.252... that sub net can only have to address usable..ie x.x.x.253 and 254... 252 being the network number and 255 being the loopback

Hi john,

But my subnet mask is 255.255.254.0......shud i change that to 255.255.255.0 .

thanx

If I'm reading this right, you have a host defined with the same IP address as your route destination. (yeah, I know that it is not the active host) Try removing that host (OUT HOST 3) and doing an UPDATE DBS

Hi sandyml,

well host 3 is actually gateway which i guess we need to add and also that should be the route destination too .hence its done ......if i out the host 3 then in my host table there wont be any gateway .....may be i m wrong so waitin for ur advise regarding shall i do wot u suggested .........

thanx

no your using a /23 network, and that is very large, i thought you were using a /30... reset your default route to 0.0.0.0 0.0.0.0 and see ifyou can ping between the .12 and the 254...it looks like that is the interface i would make active and out the ones not in use. i thought the gatway should be my active it not the next hop
