We are running Ellipse WinView on Citrix. The programs (MSO or MSQ) are quite slow to open when accessing them, 6 to 7 seconds. We have 9 Citrix servers running Ellipe only, with a max of 25 users per server and stats show load is minimal. Most users access using NFuse, but some thin client machines access using Citrix Neighborhood.. We had a Mincom consultant on site for go live who reviewed and approved all set ups of servers. Anyone else having this issue?

Hi Donna,

No, this is not normal, and it is pretty difficult to debug without seeing the system. Bringing up an MSO or MSQ on a normally running Citrix server should not take longer than a second - basically no different than a fat client on regular PC. Here are a few things to check:

1. Check the file and registry accesses to make sure you have no permissions problems - I use regmon and filemon from
2. How are your popups being distributed? I like to have each user have its own copies of the popups - Paradox performs badly if too many users share the same popups, plus it makes customizing the popups on a per user basis possible.

3. Do you have the same performance problem if you just log in to one Citrix box rather than going through the load balanced farm? I've not had load balancing affect performance on a Citrix farm before, but it did kill performance with a MS Terminal Server farm for me in the past, so it is a possible avenue to check.

Post again if none of those are the culprit, and i'll think about it some more.

Are any of your components msq files or paradox files
on a network share?
Sometimes the time to validate access to your domain server or the actual time to load the msq could be causing your delay.
