Hi All,
We are implementing Sorbonne - Oxley now. There is opinions that using spreadsheet as data collecting tools then using Ellipse script to upload them is not considered secure.
Currently, we require other area to collect transactions in excel spreadsheet prior to uploading to Ellipse.
How do you treat this data exchange program? How do you improved the spreadsheet security? TIA.

R,

Our accountants currently use an excel spreadsheet to upload manual journal transactions to ellipse. With the Sarbanes Oxley stuff, for us it was acceptable to have the excel spreadsheet exist in a secure lan folder that only the accountants had access to. Policies and procedures were written for the process and has points in it for the users to "do not save the excel spreadsheet on your hard drive" and etc...

We also have other excel spread sheets for other departments that are in secure lan folders.
The spread sheets we have make the user log into ellipse and we let the ellipse security take over as far as data access goes.
I hope this helps.
thanks,
