Trying to set up a non-dedicated Fax on ext port 04 extension # 304. The extension type is set to TEL. The faxbox has been renamed to 317 and forwards to 304. I set 7-90? to data. I get no dial tone when picking up the fax handset, just a tone. Any pointers or tips would be greatly appreaciated.

that port in 7-2 should be set as slt (analog) otherwise you'll never be able to pull dial tone from the fax machine

If you have a coid-4 in that system you could use the fax branch extension. (Fax co line on post 4 and fax machine on post 8 of the card) Make you don't have anything programmed in 4-01 4-02 and 3-42 3-43 for co4.
