I was interested in purchasing one to use in my vehicle when I am on the road. The Surface Pro is preloaded with Win 10. I was hoping that someone has been successful with this before I invest in one.
I can only say EM works with Windows 10 64 BIT on a PC and others have also done so with 32 BIT.
I do not know what the limitations are on a regular Surface compared to a PC in relation to software and programs, but I sure as hell do with a Surface RT
Hi there.
I use Business Element Manager for my Nortel BCM50's on Windows 10 without any issues.
When you go to the IP address of the BCM and download Element Manager directly from your BCM, it won't work on Windows 10 because the version there is meant for Windows XP and is way too old (at least the version of Element Manager that came with my BCM50 running rls 3 didn't work along with many others).
After the version of Element Manager that I downloaded from the IP of my BCM didn't install on my Windows 10 laptop (I got many incompatible errors with much confusion), I did some searching around on the web and found a version of Element Manager that works perfectly on my Windows 10 tablet/laptop convertible (Acer Spin 5-highly recommended) here:
I think that the version from that link is more recent and was designed to also work with Windows 7, that's why.
Maybe the versions of Element Manager that come with BCMs running newer software release come with the version compatible with Windows 7. Usually if it says that it will work on Windows 7, then it will run on Windows 10 no problem (most of the time - not guaranteed). That is because Windows 10 was built on top of the code used to make Windows 7.
The BT link provides the Version 60.3.0 of BEM that installs ok on WIN7/10 environment but it does not populate some sections of the system like IP sets and this is an issue if you have IP phones.
I believe it is a JAVA issue have not troubleshooted yet.
Any idea how to get the latest BEM? Offline installation file does not work for me.
It installed/populated all aspects of the program for me. I'm not missing any sections. I have many IP sets connected to the system and everything works great. I set them up all with the EM version from the link I posted earlier. Again, no issues.
You need to have a stable version of JAVA to use EM.
-Java latest version and an older version such as 1.5
-Remove MD5 references on the newer Java versions 1.8 and up
-BEM 62.03 and 62.0.5 (I have 62.03 on Win 7 Virtual Machine and 62.05 on Win10 64 so I can connect to any version BCM50/450/400w4.1)
These all play games with our minds:
BCM version
BEM version
Java version
MD5 References removed
and
Browser type and version when it comes to Callpilot.
It's less of a pain for those such as on site admins whom do not have to dial into several types.
