Not to monopolize the forum with multiple questions here, but I've been working on a bunch of stuff lately and although I searched for any answers or restricted Element Manager through setting up a separate User account, I could not resolve getting some kind of "admin" type setting to keep them out of the rest of the programming. Is there a way to restrict it to "Speed Dial" programming only or at least to keep the customer user access to a minimum so as to not allow them to mess with other areas? I saw there was a "Speed Dial" category yesterday when I played around with this, but using this user or creating a new one didn't seem to solve my problem??

"I saw there was a "Speed Dial" category"
Where did you see this?

What programming is the particular admin account allowed to view/change?

Here is to allow only programming of sets:

If you were to...
-Add a new user
-Add a new Group
-Add Group Privilege "Set Programming"
-Add the new user (member) to that group

Then in EM all they would see:

Welcome

-Administrator Access
--Accounts and Privileges (Current Account tab only) Note: They can only change their account password, all accounts will see this part of the tree at minimum.

-Telephony
--Sets

Hello Firebird Scrambler!

I know it can be done through the telephone set, but that method is so tedious to enter the name of each speed dial entry. So much easier done on a keyboard, but alas, I don't see any way to open the doors without letting kids into the candy store?

It appears I read that wrong and thought the complete opposite.....tell me my head is you know where next time.

Looks like SBA SystemCoord Basic would have been the best you could do if it had Element Manager access....with telset a little candy but not as deep.

I seem to think that Element Manager, (maybe on 4.0) had the ability to grey out whatever areas that you didn't want the customer to be able to access? But, perhaps I'm thinking about the Avaya IP Office Manager?

Played around some more with these so called "Accounts and Privileges" and I don't seem to know what any of them do to allow you access to either nothing or everything? I put up SBA-Basic and you only get to change your password and see nothing?
Is there some combination that would give you the System Speed Dial programming and if necessary a little wider window of opportunity like config/admin on the old norstar systems?

You will see Account & Privileges on every account however some will allow you to change other accounts and some will only allow you to change your own account.

SBA-Basic is only to use set features like F**SYSID, F**USER etc

I am doing up a tree as to what does what that helps a little more than the manual.

Thanks Curlycord!

Any updates on anyone coming up with a user format to achieve a customer restricted access to the element manager allowing speed dial programming at the minimum and whatever other doors may be needed to be open keeping in mind that we don't really want them to be able to mess up configuration programming?

We can only work with what is in EM.
There is no such thing as adding or removing the smaller components.....what you see is what we get.
It maybe the first time anyone has made this type of request to allow only one function.

Like Norstar the Administrator is given access to almost the same as that is what the admins do.

If the client is so worried about this user doing damage then one or all of the following:
-Fix it them-self and scold them
-Remind the client of Backup and Restore
-Warn the user that the system can tell whom logs in out
-Client do it them-self if they are paranoid of the user doing something else
