Hi again!

We have a BCM400 running 4.0.

I'm quickly running out of available phone numbers to assign new users. Within Element Manager-->Telephony-->Sets-->All DNs, I have a listing of all my extensions. We use 1140E phones, so most of the Models are set to "1140E/2004/2007/2050." However on a few of the DNs, it is set to "Analog." For any that say 1140E, I am able to double-click, get a dropdown, and change my options. For the models set to analog, analog is greyed out and I can not double click to change.

Can someone give me some insight for why this is as well as if I can change these settings?

Thanks in advance.

When you register the IP phone and DN in use is analog it will automaticly change to reflect the correct model number.

When I try this, it denies it and says "DN already in use"

If you have internal analog with key codes they are active ports and can not be used. Go to inactive set dn's and build one and register it.Or do a DN change from an active (the analog one) to inactive.

Thanks cook, but my familiarity with the system is preventing me from taking your suggestions.

We do have an analog card in the BCM, but nothing is connected to it/we aren't using it. There are no analog devices connected to the phone system.

Could you be a little more clear?

Thanks!

the system has keycodes that unlocks the analog ports so they are active even if you dont use them, change the analog DN in elemant manager to something else like 229 to 329, that will free your DN 229 for IP phone.

Can't have keycode to unlock analog ports on a Bcm400.
Set "auto-assign dn" in element manager and when your IP set comes up do a change Dn.

I hate auto-assign, sometimes it will steal a CDN/Application DN. Be very careful.

"Arizona Cardinals NFC Champions!

Open active sets and type over the DN with another not inuse then reg. the IP and enter the free DN.

If it's got the latest patches u can use the new DN renumber tool which allows u to renumber a range just like the new BCM450 & BCM50 3.0.

How many IP/Digital phones are you using on the system? Check your bus allocation first.Make sure you even have available ports to add ip sets.

Are you set up for a 2/6 or a 3/5 split? how many Pec cards do you have installed?

Just some other things to keep in mind.
