We have a weird issue that I'd like to see if anyone out there has troubleshot in the past.

We have a huge Call Center: Option 81c on Rls 6 with 8 network groups, CallPilot Rls 5, and Contact Center Rls 7.

The system is working fine, however on the 5th floor of the building in a single pod of about 6 cubicles, we get reports of crosstalk. The agent will report that they and their customer on the line will hear another conversation, however the other conversation cannot hear them.

These reports only come from users in this pod of cubes. No one else in the building ever reports this issue. From the PBX perspective, we have replaced telephones numerous times, and replaced TNs multiple times and using several different loops. Nothing done in the PBX makes a difference.

From the environmental perspective, the customer has had the electrical checked and reports it checked out fine. They ran new station cabling to this pod and ran it from overhead rather than from below to further separate the cables and electrical. (This was NOT shielded cable)

Using a tone generator amplifier, you can wave the wand around that area and compared to other cubicle pods, it is very loud. This leads us to believe there is some sort of interference in this area. Of course, this method of testing is not very scientific but it stands to reason that the noise the amplifier picks up should be about equal to other cubicle pods.

Questions:
1. Has anyone out there troubleshot possible interference issues in the past and have any pointers?
2. Is there some sort of testing equipment that can be purchased to measure the interference between different areas that might narrow down where the problem stems from?

Have you used a voltmeter on the tns yet? Does the crosstalk happen when using the handset or a headset and have you removed the headset from the phone?

Thank you for the responses. I also found out that it is not only crosstalk issues but other weird issues that have been occurring just in this area.

W5JVA, we will look into those RF eliminators.

RickyPone, these issues have been going on for months and we've replaced everything on the desks from telephones, headsets, and moving to several different TNs. Nothing we do from the PBX perspective works. Due to that and that problems only occur from this pod of cubes, we feel the problem is somehow environmental.

we have taken the unused station cable pairs and punched them to pbx ground to stop RFI in the past sucessfully. Also there are magnets that can snap around the line cord or cables to reduce induction,,,,nortel put them on the MG cards
i assume this is digital not ip but does work on either..also noise cancelling headsets or handsets are good

oh and some wireless headsets are running on same frequency and cant be put near each other..jabra and plantronincs certain models known issue

@RickyPone - Striclty using the toner amplifier listening, it's very quiet at the MDF and the IDF.

@bhassell2000 - Yes, the station cables WERE running through the cubes with power. They have since been rerun above the ceiling and separated from power. Still having issues.

We are thinking about ordering a couple RF Eliminators to put in line with a couple of the sets and see if that does any good.
