Help! I used to work on older NEC phone systems but, that was a while back. I need to add another 8 port Sta. card (ESIB 8 -U1 ETU) to an Electra Elite IPK. It is a single cabinet and slots 1 and 2 have ESIB/ESIE cards. Slots 3 and 4 are open. Slot 5 has a COI8 and 6 has a COI4. Slot 7 is empty and 8 has a 4 port Elite Mail VM. For a total of 56 ports. So adding an 8 port Sta. card to Slot 3 should not be a problem.
Am I correct or have I gone down the wrong road? Thanks

Lets see, 2 8 port ESI-B + 2 8 port ESI-E = 32 ports. Add 1 COI-8 = 40 + 1 COI-4 and 1 VM-4, total is 48 ports. Go to any phone and press Feature (FNC) + 3 to see the software version and the number of ports allowed. You may be max'ed out at 48 for a basic system. A PKU chip is required to get to the 192 port maximum.
If you are allowed more ports than 48, then assign the card in MB 7-1.

Thank you! I did see that there is a "PKU192-U" chip on the processor. I will have the customer do the FEAT 3 1st thing today.
After programming the Slot, can I install the card with the power on? This system is old. I really don't want to cycle power if I don't have to.
Thanks again

Make sure the busy out switch is not in the run position before plugging it in.If you are not sure what position that is, compare it to a card in the system. The system is very old, so the CPU battery may not be good. I would try very hard not to turn off power to the system. With a weak/dead battery on power up it will default the system database. I suggest putting some time in to get the database so if it does default you have something to go back to (reprogram). You could try to replace the battery. They had a tail on a 3.5 vdc battery which can be unplugged with power on. It was held in place by a tye wrap.

I have acquired a NEC electra elite IPK KSU. I was wondering if anybody could direct me to a website where I could find free software for the KSU listed above?

Or The best way to reset the KSU system ?

Thank you!

By reset, if you mean default it to the factory resident program, turn off system, turn off the battery on the CPU, install the circuit cards, power up the system. It will install the cards it sees and load a resident program.

NOTE: you should be opening a separate post.
