Hello... I have several questions for the gurus!

First, I have a Electra Elite 192 key system with the VMS voicemail. My primary phone lines connect through a COI(8) card. I have Cosession to program the VMS, but don't have a MIFM card (yet) so I've been doing all of my programming manually after deciphering the manual.

We typically run our system in night mode all of the time, so the automated attendant answers automatically and asks the caller to enter a particular extension.

1) Is there any way to set up ringing groups -- so that the caller can enter a certain dummy extension, and some (or all) phones will ring?

2) When a caller enters an extension to call, the VMS system says to stand by, and the caller hears dead silence while the phone rings. Is there a way to turn on the ringing, so that the caller can hear the phone ringing (instead of thinking that they've been disconnected)? Or will I have to get an on-hold music source to fill the void?

3) Is there a way to set up call forwarding in this manner: caller enters an extension at the VMS prompt (ex: 101), and that extension rings; if no answer, the system rings another extension or group of extension (ex: 102, or preferably all extensions), and if no answer there, the system transfers the caller back to the original extension's VM (ex: 101)?

4) If it is possible to perform the routing described in #3, can that feature be enabled in day mode but disabled in night mode? And if so, how can I change the day mode parameters so that the system automatically goes to the VMS auto-attendant first?

5) As my system is set up now, when a caller dials an extension that is busy, the busy set quietly beeps once and the "Answer" light flashes. Is there a way to change the beep so that the phone rings normally, or does something else a little more conspicuous?

I know that is a lot of questions -- maybe someone could write a ringing FAQ out of it!! I have dug through the programming manual and have done alot of trial-and-error testing, but can't seem to figure out these issues. Of course, maybe the problem is that I am trying to do it manually, and I just need to purchase the MIFM board.

Any help would be appreciated! Thanks in advance...

1) Build a CAR / SIE key and progeram on the phones you want to ring. Be sure to add a vm box that has transfer set to yes.

2) Set 4-66 for rbt (ring back tone) for your voice mail stations. that will give you ringing.

3) Use call forwarding busy and no answer. packet info should follow and if no one answers thae call should go to original vm box.

4) too detailed for this forum.

5) Check MB 4-51

2)Ring back tone on elite192 wont work if the version software is lower than 7.01 (To check it press feature + 3 on any phone). Unless they've changed it or there is another way,i've tried and it doesn't work.(Unless you upgrade)
