If you program a DSS button for the target station on your customer's handset, he'll be able to tell by the status LED if the target station is: On the line, DND, call forwarded, OR HAS VOICEMAIL WAITING.
Look in your manual for DSS/BLF settings. If you need help, check back here.
I was hitting 1-6-05 in the sys software but couldn't figure out exactly how to enable on the phone. I also tried programming the lone button available on the handset itself and couldn't quite figure which code to use. Am I on the right track? I get very confused with NEC and I've been working with it for 2.5 years. It always seems to be the little things like this that cause me grief.
what you need to do is go into command 1-8-08 and make sure that line key 2 is lit on page 6 in classes (00) and (15) then program the persons extension you want to flash on the other persons phone
Example Ext. 100 wants to see Ext 101's message waiting light you will go to extension 100 and program a feature access key on the phone Feature redial the key 1 then extension then feature the light will light when they have a message and also when they are on the phone Hope this helps
