ejecting a backup tape from the command line

Is there a way to eject a tape using the command line. I looked at "tctl" but I don't think you can do it using this command.
 
well, tctl - rewoffl should rewind the tape and eject it

tctl -f /dev/rmt1 rewind for example. also mt will do the same thing. I do not understand what you mean when you say "I don't think you can do it using this command."

mt does the job for me, example below:

mt -f /dev/rmt0 rewoffl

MS Certified Windblows Rebooter
