Is it possible to have an abstract base EJBObject that I can extend from... But that base obviously won't be deployed, it doesn't have any home and remote interface...
Or is that the way to do it?

Because I'm deploying the decendant class and it complains about: org.xml.sax.SAXParseException: Element "enterprise-beans" requires additional elements.
Unable to parse: null
Failed to load

Is it even possible to inherit in EJB's?

Thank you?

Yes and yes.

Sun used to have an article on doing this, but then it disappeared and I was never able to find it again - maybe you are not supposed to do it.

Inheritance with EJB is really tricky, esp. for entity beans and I don't think CMP can do it.
