Egress ACL?

Ingress = packets incoming
Egress = packets outgoing

that is of course true 
...ingress is incoming from network to the switch and egress is reverse...
for my old office switch summit 200 (extremeware) i am able to apply and configure ACLs for both egress as well as ingress....but why then few x4xx switches have support for only ingress while some have ingress as well as egress ACLs?
