can someone tell me what EEPROM is and how to change it if i have to?

It's a peice of electronic equipment and all the ones I worked with, you could unplug them.

Electrically Erasable Programmable Read-Only Memory. Probably something like Self-Contained Underwater Breathing Apparatus or Light Amplification by Stimulated Emission of Radiation or maybe even Microwave Communications Incorporated.

Each of those can be replaced in the field

You can change them. Pull them out, put them in a programmer and reset them. Much like they way I do...i mean..much like the way I hear you can do with cable boxes.
