Hello,
I have an AMD-K6 200 that has 4 EDO ram slots and 2 DIMM slots on top of that. I had 2 EDO chips that were installed originally and when I turned it on it would just beep and not go thru the POST test. I switched the EDO chips around and it worked. I then wondered if I could use the DIMMs as well so I took out the EDOs and put in a DIMM and nothing happened, it beeped again. I tried to see if both types of chips would work together, another beep. I got a message up one time that said something about the DMI POOL being changed but now I can't get anything to come up on the screen. HELP!!!
thanks Platypus Messaih

it may be possible, you have to switch the type memory you use, via jumper switches. Karl Blessing aka kb244{fastHACK}

More than likely not. Since most SIMMS have a 5 volt usage and DIMMS use 3volts. Most main Boards will NOT allow you to use both at the same time. There were boards in the market that would but they were rare. The difference in voltage is the reason you cant. Most boards wont adjust voltages for both at the same time.

i used to run a board that would do that, it allowed me to use any configuration of memory, it had 4 edo slots and one 2 dimms... i loved that board... but as time moves on, i couldn't use it any more... my suggestion would be to take a look at the mother board manuel, and to have the memory chips tested(if you tried both types at the same time)... because doing that can cause the dims to break... putting to much voltage to it...

just a couple of idea's...

Hey guys,
I have tested the DIMM in another computer and they still work, so it is not blown.
