Allright, I know this is a "newbie" qeustion, but I am a newbie so I guess its okay. What I need help with is this, I want to put two different lines of text with two different effects on a custom background in Photoshop 7. How do I do this as far as working with the layers? Also, what is the best sight for free how to advice for Photshop 7?

Hello tbpirate

Let me see if I can help you. First I am hoping I understand your question.

this is what I would.

First you will have your background and set it up to look the way you want it to.

Next click your Text Tool and place your first line of text.

Control Enter when you have typed what you want to set the text on the layer.

You now have two layers, your background and one text layer.

Next with your text tool still selected click somewhere else on the background. Be sure to stay away from your first text layer. If you pointer turns into an I-Beam you are too close to the previous text layer.

Click and type your second line. Control Enter once you are done with it.

You now have two lines of text.

Click the Move Tool or hit M on your keyboard. and then click the text layer for your first line and move it using your arrow keys until it is where you want it.

Next click your second text layer and use your arrow keys until you have it where you want it.

Now from here I don't know what type of effects you want so you will have to answer this post or email me and ask me more question.

I hope this helps.

I have a similiar question to this post.

What is the best way to add your name and photo title underneath the photo in the plain border area.

I am new to Photoshop and worked with the text tool but do not know the path to placing the text in the border.

Thanks,

You will have to increase the canvas size beyond the image to allow you to include some text outside the image. Go to Image>Canvas Size, and on the array of sqaures, click on the middle top one. This means when you add some more 'canvas' that it will be added to the bottom edge of the image. If you don't know how much space you will need just add plenty, then when you have got the text where you want, crop away any extra canvas left beneath it.
