Editing Object Buttons and Checkboxes in Word 2000

I have a Word template that uses macros to insert autotext. The autotext is a table that includes radio buttons and/or checkboxes. The users of the template have noted that before they can make a selection in a checkbox or radio button, they have to right-click on an object (either a radio button or checkbox), and choose to edit the object. Once that is done, all other radio buttons and checkboxes work fine, even in other autotext that is inserted.

Does anyone know of a way to make all objects work without having to take this step? Maybe using VB?

Thanks in advance!

Hi Dreamboat. Thanks for your response. I had already ruled that out (and went back after your response and checked again!). The document is not in design mode.

I should add that I have the same problem when I am editing the template too -- but it's not consistent. Sometimes I don't need to do the "kick-start" and sometimes I do. The same is true for those using the template. I'm baffled.

Any other suggestions?

I have found that simply turning on design mode and then turning it off again makes all my controls work. But I have tried and tried to get my code to do that at the end of each auto text entry... I can get it turn design mode off, but it won't turn it back off.

Can anyone offer some code that would do the trick? Dreamboat? :)
