I am mainly an Illustrator CS2 user and I am not very familiar with Photoshop.

I want to edit Illustrator CS2 files in Photoshop so that I can edit the nodes, lines and points etc.

I feel this should be easy but when I try and edit illustrator files in photoshop the file opens and the image is displayed but I am unable to edit the Nodes and points which would give me greater editing flexibility.

What file format should I save Illustrator files in and what should I do if I want to edit the file in Photoshop. I have tried .EPS ,.PDF.

The question to ask is 'why do you want to edit vector art in Photoshop?'

Photoshop is primarily a bitmap editing program with very limited vector support. It can export vector art but most everything it loads is rasterized into a bitmap. There are no nodes in bitmaps.

Someone wanted me to edit a design I did for them. The trouble is they only have photoshop and not illustrator. But if you cannot edit vector art in photoshop then we will have to find some other method or just edit the rasterized version. Thanks for the reply

If someone wants YOU to edit the design then YOU can do it using Illustrator and then send the NEW version to this person.

I must be tired. I meant to say someone wanted me to create an editable design for them in a format that they can edit in Photoshop. This is so they can make alterations at a later date.

Depending on the complexity of the image, the person could open the .eps version (which I believe Photoshop will try to rasterize but give the options for the dimmention) and then the person can create a selection on the area that should be edited and convert this selection to a path.
