I created a "fill-in" application form and converted to PDF using version 4. Then I had someone with version 5, make it an editable PDF for online use. When I fill out the pplication and hit the submit button, I receive a results window which is supposed to show all of my entries. The problem is that it only shows some of the data. I have had other people perform a test for me using adobe reader version 4 and 5. Three people using 5 had no problem and two people using 4 were split...one worked and the other was also missing info like me.

Can someone shed some light on this mystery?

Maybe the problem was cross-version...
You made the PDF using verison 4, but had it become "fill-in" using version 5, maybe some data or coding got lost in the process...
Can you post a link to the pdf file?? It can also be that the your users had an corrupt copy of adobe acrobat... I have not failed; I merely found 100,000 different ways of not succeding...

Thank you. The link is nt always available because it is part of a new site.

I had someone who also had 4.0 test it for me and they got the expected results. My wife's PC also failed like mine to do it right. Everyone else who has 5.0 succeeded.

I actually own 5.0 but I uninstalled it and put 4.0 back on. The reason I did this is because 5.0 gave me some problems. Maybe you can help???

The first is that some people were unable to open the PDF files I created using 5.0 despite saving as 4.0.

The second reason is that they removed the PDF Writer. This was just an easy way to create PDFs for me.

The third reason is that I could not figure out how to install additional Distiller Printers. My 4.0 version allowed me to create multiple Distillers and save specific settings to each such as paper size and margins.

The fourth reason is that they did away with the margin settings. I create reports that must be formatted with specific margin settings in order to print correctly.

Am I missing something that is making my transition more complicated than necessary?

Ok, lets start from the begining.
You have a document created in MSWord, I assume, correct??
Then you went to File -> Print (and chose Acrobat PDFWriter correct)??
Then you printed it right??
Unless you got an error in that, it shouldn't give you a problem...
I would suggest that you redo the PDF file...if you can and its not too much work...
I have version 4 also so I can't try to figure out why you can't have multiple Distiller settings...
Try contatcing Adobe and see what they say... I have not failed; I merely found 100,000 different ways of not succeding...
