We just implementing EDI and I would like to know if anybody knows where can I get Macola ES EDI user instruction? I know that these instructions varies from company to company but the basic information should be the same. EX. explenation of CODES (850, 997, 856, etc), ways to bring orders into MACOLA, etc.
Thanks,

mongos30,
if you do not have an edi module or edi software package you will have to code one or purchase one.
as for the user instruction i'm not sure what you are refering to. if you mean tha actual document spec then each of you trading partners will provide you with their spec when you agree to trade edi transaction sets with them.
regards,
longhair

What about asking Macola?

I did ask MACOLA but they say that they don't have books since is a new MACOLA module. What I need is instruction about pulling the orders, choosing the orders, picking line items, backorders, confirming, etc. Just the basic for a new user.

mongos30,
how could a sw company put out a package with no instructions?
how / why would one purchase it?
there is no on line help within the module?
they offer no training?
will they put you in contact with another customer who has been using the product so you can ask them?
regards,
longhair

There is online help available in the customer portal. When you log in, search for "EDI HowTo". It is an index of all the EDI knowledge base articles, which cover everything from from 'What is an 856' to 'I'm getting this error on this segment and element.'

If you need a log in and password, contact your sales manager, they can set you up.

I know they were working on a comprehensive EDI manual when I left there, but I don't know if it's finished.

are you looking for the standards and what the element id's mean?
If so, what industry do you work in?

Do you also need to know how to map, code, or program?

If that is the case, your company might want to either send you to training, return the software and buy a translator that includes training (GXS maybe?), or hire a consultant to get things running as well as train you.

Thank you very much for all your information. I have recieved great help from Exact. WesEDI, my industry is Lingerie Manufacturing and using Macola in this field is very challenging since my industry concentrate in high-end production which mean low quantities but complex processing (production). Do you know any special program for this field?

Which application are you using with MacolaES. I ask because Exact recently switched from using Gentran as the translator and the EDI module (integrator) in MacolaES. They know have Exact EDI which is both the translator and integrator. (OEM version of Datamason's Vantage Point) There is limmited documentation on this as it is new.

As far as documentation, someone suggusted Exact web portal, which is a good resource. Even though you have ES you can still buy the EDI book for Progression. Their is online Help in ES that is pretty good, and soon Exact is going to offer a service where you can request a printed copy of the online help (you are free to print a copy yourself) which a third party will print, bind and send to you for a fee.
