Currently we are using Oracle Application 10.7, and we are requested to implement additional transactions:
846 (On-hand inventory)
830R (Response to Forecast).

We do not have any knowledge on these 2 trxs. Does anybody know the nature of them? Is 846 inbound report only transaction? Or it also transact information to database?

Thank you very much

Both the 846 and the 830 allow a supplier to communicate information to a customer. In the case of the 846, your supplier would send you inventory on-hand quantities to assist your buyers in determining if they could order everything from one source or possibly they would place the order with multiple sources. If you generate PO's for your customer, the 846 would tell you when to generate another PO. There are other uses as well. The 830R allows a customer to respond to an initial 830 Forecast. Generally, a customer will place a blanket PO without quantity or date details. As the manufacturing cycle matures, the 830 provides a forecast of what is needed with authorization to proceed for specific quantities. The original 830 did not allow the supplier to respond to the initial forecast or authorization information.

This is a 1000 foot level explanation. If you tell me what industry you're in, I can point you to additional detailed information.
