[edi-l] How to purge (or reduce the size of) the Gentran Database Log

I'm new to Gentran and would like to know how to reduce and/or purge the GentranDataBase_Log.LDF? I'm running Gentran Server for Windows NT, version 3.2 SP1. I am basically out of space on my hard drive and them seems to be a file I can free up a lot of space with.

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Jeff,

While I'm not a DBA, if space is a concern, there are a few things you can do to help from the application side.

- Make sure you have a job scheduled to purge your audit log. You can then either delete what is purged, or at least back it up elsewhere.

- Set up archiving. You can set this up to run automatically, and save the archive files on another drive/server

A mentioned you can purge the log. Open up the Gentran administration tool and purge the log from there.
Archive the messages as soon as you can noting that it takes forever to search these archiving messages if you were needing to retrieve their data.
