Hey
Does anyone know how to mask the full credit card number from showing up on the EDC transaction report? I'm assumming it's somewhere in the edc.ini but I can't find it. Thank you.
Aloha V.6.1.16

When I started working in my company as IT Admin I noted that the dealer that setup Aloha do not give any advice into data security (The dealer install and configure the Dell Server) as the BOH where part of a Hotspot setup. When I first visited the store and hook up my Macbook I noted that the BOH server, printer, Security DVRs where showing in finder and I could browse them! That was scary to me because in average at any giving time we had over 120 to 160 Hotspot users across all 16 stores. I never receive any status or incident about data security but could had been very bad.

I recomend to those that had a store with hotspot to look into Mikrotik Router OS. The Router are about $100 and had an extensive set of feature like VLAN, Layer 3 and Layer 7 Switch, BGP Routing, MPLS, HOTSPOT setup with authentication, Bandwith Shaping (By protocol, port, packet mark, L7 protocol etc). I use them to isolate the data coming and going to the POS Server and Hotspot User.

PS: I found this forum because someone at one of the store made a shortcut using the /bpjw switch and was getting admin level access.

Funny you're reviving an old thread. Actually at midnight tonite I'm batching with Heartland for the last time. Since signing with HPS last year I've saved considerable fees over my previous processor, about $400/mo savings.

Since then I've been working with this guy, (bean counter/consultant) what he does is he tells you to negotiate your best rate possible with whomever or maybe you think you already have the best rate. Then, using his vast knowledge of the industry as well as his higher up connections, he negotiates on your behalf. He really represents no one company. In fact in my case he renegotiated with HPS and my backup merchant ,Suntrust, and now I'm moving all my business back to Suntrust.

My savings are supposed to be an additional $400/month in which he (beancounter) will audit monthly and take 1/3 commission for 1 year.

IMO card mercharts are below car saleman on the food chain, not all but most. HPS I think really does a straight up great job compared to most. There are better rates out there but they're really hard to get and to weed through the BS. HPS is great for most and they are fair. But this bean counter guy is da bomb. He knows "all" the tricks these slime merchants use in this highly unregulated business.

Beware of hidden fees and surcharges. We are upfront on all of our costs to the merchant. And most of all we pride ourselves on the service we provide to our merchants. Will your processor stand up and fight for you for any charge backs? Do they have a merchants bill of rights and tell you what they will do for you as a merchant should you have any problems? Are they local and can be there to fix any problems or replace equipment quickly?
