Hello All!

I have a site that with larger CC batches 14k or more that when attempting to settle it will time out. It will attempt to go to the modem (which I don't have/need one) Then it will cancel out. The oddest part is that it will send ALL the money to the bank but will not clear the totals out of Aloha EDC. Below is the message I get in the debout after it happens.

Jan 15, 00:47:17, [10472], [INFO],," SendSSLMessageBlocking: Error 12002"
Jan 15, 00:47:17, [10472], [INFO],,""
Jan 15, 00:47:17, [10472], [INFO],," Unable to connect to the host. The network might be down."
Jan 15, 00:47:17, [10472], [INFO],," Make sure you have the 'host' and 'resource' typed in correctly."
Jan 15, 00:47:17, [10472], [INFO],," host = 'ssl.pgs.wcom.net'"
Jan 15, 00:47:17, [10472], [INFO],," resource = '/scripts/gateway.dll?Transact'"

Has anyone else had this trouble?

Thanks for ANY help!

If you are not using Internet Explorer 7--upgrading it should take care of the problem.

It's a Windows 2003 Server. Running IE 7. Any other thoughts?

That's what fixed my problem. How many transactions are trying to be sent?

Transactions vary. If the batch can be settled in under 30 seconds. Usually anything 13k and below it will be fine. Once we hit 14k and up or anything past 30 seconds it will fail.

In 5.3.39, 5.3.39e, 6.0.6, 6.1.3, and higher, "the SSL timeout logic never properly employed the defined timeouts."

The timeout is defined by the WaitForSslResponseMessageTimeout variable in the [System] section of the Edc.ini. If Edc does not receive a response for through SSL in the number of seconds defined, then it will timeout and try again. Try setting it for a longer period, but know that this could slow your processing overall.

I have it currently set to 90 seconds. But it doesn't seem to take affect.

This is what I currently have under the System Bracket:

[System]
WaitForSSLResponseMessageTimeout=90
AuthRetries=0
ManageDebout=TRUE
MultipleMerchantIDs=FALSE
LastDeboutUpdateDate=019
LastSettlement=Wednesday 01/21/2009 01:02 AM (VISANET)
LastSettlementDate=Wednesday 01/21/2009 01:02 AM
LastSettlementProc=2,1
CC_refund_limit=1000.00
SSL_RETRY=1

But yet it still stops at 30 seconds.

Aloha Version 6.1.22

kkiernan13,

Have you found out how to fix this issue. I'm having this same issue at another location. Their problem is more based on quantity of transactions rather than the dollar amount. Have different values of the "WaitforSSLResponseMessageTimeout" worked? I have 5.3.33.

Found out that the issue was IE 7.0. As soon as I downgraded to IE 6.0. My problem went away the next day. Try that out!

I'm wondering if it has to do with the Fact that IE 7.0 has SSL 2.0 disabled by default. I'm going to try this out for next week and see what happens. The restaurant doesn't have large enough batches until Monday.

EDC 6.4.10 and higher started to use a different third party SSL module for card processing. EDC is now modular, so you can use a different EDC version from the POS. This latest EDC works much better for SSL traffic than before.

Just to let people know checking SSL 2.0 isn't sufficient, so I'm removing Internet Explorer 7 may not even upgrade to SP3 this time.
