EDC Batch Settling errors

Hey All,

Recently I've been receiving occasional errors when my Aloha POS system's EDC tries to auto settle its credit card batches. It'll run fine for 6 or 7 days and then another error will pop up. I've received two different error messages in the past three weeks(not at the same time mind you, but during two different failure instances). Once it fails, it continues to fail until I manually settle the batch.

The error messages were:
Error 50006 - Invalid Session ID
and
Error 50205 - Unable to get Response from Host

In both instances, once I caught that the batch was no longer auto-settling (after several days in a row of it failing), I was able to manually settle the batch successfully without issue. I've called the CC processing company, but they weren't much help and pointed it back to my end. I'd expect that the second error message has something to do with internet being down when the batch was trying to settle, but why would it cause the EDC to continually fail to settle the batch automatically until I manually settle it? Needless to say, my client is unhappy, so I came to this site because it has always been a very reliable source of info (THANKS EVERYONE!).

Any insight would be much appreciated,
Ben

See if you can post the contents of the Debout.EDC in the Aloha(qs)\TMP folder on the server at or around the time the issue occurs.

Dauphin2 - It hasn't failed since I posted this. I will keep an eye on it and when it fails again, I will post those files. Thank you for your response!

Take care...

I'm still having issues with the EDC bombing during the CC Batching. It only occurs on Friday and Saturday nights and it is regular as clock work. I am wondering if perhaps there is something that the wait staff might be doing that could be causing this to occur since it is usually the same people working the same shifts. Once it fails once, it will continue to fail unless I manually settle the batch. Even then, I sometimes have to do a system refresh before it will settle properly. Anyone have any insight?

Thanks,
Ben

I have seen this every now and again. Try settling at a different time. They go over the internet, so there may be some heavy traffic when you are doing this. Also if it happens on your busy nights, it means you have many transactions to settle. Sending a large batch with internet packet lose will cause the same error. Wait until 6 or 7 am to batch. If you are batching after midnight its not going to matter for getting funding if you settle at 3 am, 6 am or noon.

Alohaross,

Thanks for the quick reply; I very much appreciate it. I've already changed the batch time from 5:45AM to 6:45AM and it didn't seem to make a difference. The number of transactions being processed usually tops out around 350; I don't know if that is a lot or not.

Again, thanks for the reply,
Ben

Next time it happens post the debout.edc file here. You do not need the entire file just the part for that day in question. You can also reach me through the website below. I could remote in and see if there is anything out of place. Sometimes a second pair of eyes makes all the difference. Daulfin2 and Sheerdyn have both helped see something right in front of me.

Thanks Alohaross,

I really appreciate the offer. I'll keep an eye out. It's a pretty safe bet that it'll happen on Saturday AM.

Thanks!
Ben
