I recently built a new box, with a k7s5a_ecs mb, 2 sticks crucial sdram 256mb/32x64 pc-133, amd athlon 1600+/266 processor, and a maxtor 30g 7200rpm hd. Using fully updated win98se. computer will run great for awhile then just lock-up. no particular program seems to cause this does it on anything. I am using the old video card (very old, not exactly sure what it is) if anyone has any ideas comments or anything i would appreciate it. thanks in advance....MUTT everyday you learn something new, the day you dont is the day you die....so make someone live longer teach them something.......MUTT

Leedeebug is right about the PSU. There isn't a more power hungry board out there than the K7S5A. Especially at the 3.3 rail. From my experience a 300W ,regardless of brand, is borderline for this rig.

well, as i started this forum thread, i believe it is my turn for a reply lol. I have pulled out the sdram and went with one stick ddr ram and a new ati video card. the system is running flawlessly now. i have learned my lesson and will be using asus or msi boards from now on. oh yeah by the way, i am also running a 350 watt psu seems to be running board, cpu fan and two case fans just fine so far. good luck everyone. everyday you learn something new, the day you dont is the day you die....so make someone live longer teach them something.......MUTT

Crap, and why did I buy 2 of these boards? :
Well, my computer was running fine after I installed the ECS. I replaced my 450w PS I had cuz it died :( ..odd.. but I replaced it with a 420w Enlight. Everything was great..

I shut it down yesterday to test my CPU in my uncle's computer. His computer won't POST. While I was at it, I put his CPU in my M.B. to test his CPU.
Well, now neither will POST. I've tried resetting the BIOS, removing the battery & putting it back in.
Only Video & fan, PS, CPU, Memory connected to the board. Well, that and the jumpers from the case. I made sure they were connected correctly.

My computer powers on, no POST. Before all this, I left everything connected. It seemed to be rebooting, without POST still. The drives turn on a couple seconds, then off, then on...then off, etc.. so that tells me it's rebooting. I'm using 2 sticks of 256DDR. I tried booting with 1, still no help :[

ECS K7S5A v3.1 (built-in sound & nic)
AthlonXP 1800
Enlight 420w PS
2x 256mb PC2100 DDR (not sure of brand - says 'MD' on it)
Geforce4 TI4200 64mb DDR

I tried a spare video card also (Geforce2MX 64mb)
