I have a customer with a 406 v2 (3.1.56). They are having issues with echo and poor voice quality. They are using a PRI for outbound calls. They are using 54XX sets. I am sure this will surprise all, but the provider is saying it's not their circuit. I appreciate any and all help.

The system is grounded and echo is only on outside calls.

Similar complaints from a client running 3.1.56 on a 406v2 with PRI. Any ideas?

I also have this happening on 2 sites.

Both 406v2 DS units and both using 5402 or 5410 sets.

Very annoying.

How far from the telco provider equipment to the IP Office? You may need to adjust your gain on the PRI.

IPO is conected to PRI with 5m patch lead

I have this problem on like 3 sites. The problem usually is the db level on the receive. Try changing it from 0db to -7db. If this doesnt do it, have the provider adjust it on there end as well if you need to go beyond the parameters of the IPO. There is also a techtip pertaining to a 2 wire or 4 wire t-1. Avaya has stated that a 2 wire t-1 has problems and switch to a 4 wire from the providers CO. The only problem is that most providers use 2 wire to save on pairs at the pole. Its not an option anymore to specify. Try the other options I mentioned before you go down that road. Goodluck

how do you change the PRI db level on the IPO???

If you go into the line tab where you can view the channels of the PRI, click on the individual channel and you will see the field to adjust the transmit and receive level. Just set the receive db level to -6 or -7. Then reboot the system and test it.

don't have that option on my manager

Im in the U.S., maybe these options are not available in the European locale.

SuperJenks was right. I set the receive levels on the receive to -6 db. Now there is no echo. Thanks for the help. Customer is finally happy!!

Not sure what I can do though. Service provider not much help.

Will try again to get them to lower the send db.
