The network manager here wants to upgrade a server to SP2 because the db is almost 16gb (standard edition) and he does not want to upgrade to enterprise.

Does anyone have any good or bad experience with SP2??
I usually don't even consider a major patch before it has been out for awhile.

From what I understand Exch 2003 Std Edition will support a single storage group with 2 dbs. Can each db be 16gb or the sum of both can't be larger than 16gb.

If each can be 16gb then I could create a new db and move user..??????

Thanks

Standard supports a single storage group with 2 databases, 1 priv and 1 pub. The priv is made up of 2 files, priv.edb and priv.stm - it is the sum of the size of the 2 files for this priv database that must remain under 16GB. The pub database is seperate, and also limited to 16GB.

has details of how to temporarily increase your store maximum to 17GB. But long term, yes, I'd say go ahead with SP2, then problem solved.

Actually Exchange 2003 SP2 bumps up the limit of your Exchange Database to 75gigs......have it installed and have not issues with it....and we are now trying to get the mobile aspect of it to work.

I know, that's why I said "go ahead with SP2, then problem solved".
